What in Your Life is Calling Out to You?

  • What Needs Attention:
  • What dream wish is waiting to be fulfilled?
  • What talent in you is just waiting to be tapped? Are you a potential writer, artist, musician, entertainer, doctor, nurse, athlete or leader? What do you feel needs to be explored at this point in your life?
  • What emotional needs are feeling unmet? Is that sadness, anger, frustration, grief, loneliness, anxiety, nervousness, fear, conflict, confusion, depression, burnout or hopelessness getting to you big time?
  • What in your life do you know you have to get right or develop or overcome.
  • Is your need for peace, quiet, relaxation, contentment, affection, love, kindness, friendship, trust, play, adventure, freedom, joy, happiness, excitement, delight and gratitude calling to you? Often a holiday can supply these, but you may need these vital nutrients in greater quantities in your daily life. Starvation of these emotions will leave you as prone to illness as any physical deprivation of  food nutrients will.
  • How is your career doing? How are you doing in your present job? Happy or hating it?
  • How are your various relationships ( intimate, social, business) going?
  • What about your health status? Good health is real wealth! It is your most valuable possession. Are you doing enough to be in good health or create it from scratch?
  • Do you want to get rid of bad habits like smoking, drinking, overeating, prescription or recreational drug use?
  • Does your entire life – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, need detoxification?
  • How happy are you with your education/ career aspirations?
  • How are your finances?
  • Are you managing your finances well? Do you lose money, waste it, overspend or just avoid self discipline?
  • Do you have a lack of willpower?
  • Are you trying to manage stress in your life? Do you have a stress management strategy?
  • How are you handling your family, extended family, friends and social life?
  • Do you have a spiritual practice? I mean things that you do daily, not just what you know about. There is a big difference between knowing about–done it before and doing it currently. That is where coaching come in.
  • Do you have clear goals in each department of life? Are you taking action daily heading towards these goals?
  • Are you feeling productive in your life?
  • Do you have enough self esteem and self confidence?
  • Are you happy and grateful for everything in your life?
  • Do you manage time and have you tamed whatsapp, facebook, tv overuse or procrastination?
  • Do you spend most of your life sitting? You can go about changing that. Sitting is considered the new smoking–it is that unhealthy!
  • Things that are grabbing your attention are calling from deep inside you for some kind of change.
  • Stages of Change:
  • The need for change should result in you taking some kind of action to remedy the situation. Unfortunately life is not that simple. You have to go through various stages to move from need to response. This process involves moving through denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance and that gives you the freedom to take some kind of focused action. Getting stuck with the process will stop you reaching your goals.
  • Can you take a step back from the situation and say, “I do not have the answers for the situation, but I will make it my business to find them”. You have to own it to change it. Are you owning the problems or challenges facing you, or are you busy running away? Saying that you do not have anything that needs changing, is the denial of ownership of your situation, or a simple self sabotage block. Even an enlightened person may be busy with this or that project and encounter obstacles on their journey.
  • Dealing with the Stages:                                                                                                          These are thoughts that may go through your mind or you may find yourself saying them to people you are with.                                                                                                     What a bother. I hate this (anger)      I can’t deal with this.(denial)                                   This is one of my pet peeves. (frustration)                                                                               This drives me nuts. (anger)
  • This is not my problem.(denial)                                                                                                 I do not have any problems.(denial)                                                                                         I am powerless in this situation.(denial/victim)                                                                     This frustrates me a lot.(anger/impatience)                                                                            I’m not responsible for this situation. My parents, upbringing, class, society, my partner, bad people, the government, gangsters, banksters, religion or the weather is the real cause.(denial/victim/blame)                                                                                     If the economy changes……….(powerlessness, victim, blaming God, cop out, bargaining)     I don’t really have to do this.(denial, refusal)                                           I’ll start tomorrow.(bargaining, procrastination, refusal)                                                  Right now is not the perfect time.(lying, refusal) Right now is always the perfect time, even if it is only the time to write up your strategy and to plan when to implement it and to put that date in your diary.                                                                 I’ll begin once I have more……………..( off, procrastination, indirect refusal)                   I’m not good enough or strong enough to even get started….( denial, rejection of your own power, victim, playing small, bargaining, refusing, desperation to run away)     Today I’ll have fun, or right now I must enjoy this…… but tomorrow I will get round to it and focus on the work needed. Another variation of this ” I don’t have the energy right now, but tomorrow I will…………( all procrastination, refusal, evasive action, laziness, slipperiness, conning self and others)  .
  • Roll up your sleeves and deal with all the blocks to change one at a time. That is why the reasons you are not getting on with stuff is shown above in brackets eg denial, procrastination, refusal.
  • Do you to want to change? Yes or No? If yes is the answer, immediately do something about. Write it on paper. For example:                                                          My challenge regarding my health is………………………………….                                         My challenge regarding my relationship is……………………….                                               The dream that I would like to manifest  is……………………….                                                           I am keen to create………………………………………………………………                                             If there is an area of your life where you want to change, but feel that you are not able to change, call me. I can help you with this. Coaching is designed to help with this kind of work. Breaking through barriers is what coaching is about.                         Taking enough action will result in movement in your chosen direction.
  • Acceptance frees you to take Action.                                                                                  Once you are aware of a problem, the next step is to admit that you have to leave your comfort zone in order to make changes. The average person tends to look for an easy way out. Enlist the help of someone like me whose work is coaching people towards their goals. If a little voice in your head shouts “I don’t know how to do this”, answer that with the statement ” I will find a way”. I’m here to provide all the technical help and support that you need to get the job done, to reach your goals, to fix what needs fixing and manifest something new and better in your life.
  • Once you have become aware of your needs or problems, you have to decide to do something about them. That will involve overcoming various fears. You may have to face fear of: change, the unknown, failure, success, loss, upsetting others, the jealousy of others, self doubt, and guilt and anxiety about change.
  • Once you are aware of the roots of the problem, the next step is to admit that ” I have to leave my comfort zone and do something about this if anything is to change”. This is what separates those who are proactive from those who are the average masses looking for the easy lazy way out. Hoping will not make it fall from the sky. Enlist the help and support of someone like me to ensure that you succeed. A good coach helps you get the job done, instead of just thinking about it. Phone me ! 0761458374.

“I LOVE MY BODY”. WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE TO THAT STATEMENT?

Your response to that statement will reveal a lot to you. Do you love the one and only vehicle that you will have right through your life? Is your body a glorious place to be living in? Did you choose this body? Do you believe that it was imposed on you by your parents? Is it the perfect body for you at this point in time? Has it served you well? Is it forgiving when you neglect it? Write your answers to these questions on some paper or in your journal if you keep one. Your answers to all the questions should be “yes” in my opinion except for the question about whether your parents imposed this body on you. I believe that our souls have choice and freedom, so your body is your choice.

Each of our bodies have pros and cons. They make you the individual that you are. What if the things that you do not like about your body are there because you chose to learn certain lessons connected to those limitations.  What if that includes your gender, family linage and your genes. For most of my life I was unhappy with my genes. I was too unhealthy. Well eventually I learnt how to overcome the genetic limitations that I was unhappy about. That involved choosing to nurture and look after my body in the exact condition that it was in. This wonderful body responded slowly but surely. It took concerted time and effort on my part. I had to choose health. I learnt to accept my body instead of envy those who had more robust bodies. I noticed that I had to pay attention to my mind and emotions as well. Your body is one of your  greatest teachers.

Treat your body well and it will respond. The process requires being consistently nurturing. That is a challenge. It is easier to nurture another person, a pet, a garden in fact any other sentient being on earth. Why? In order to be happy and healthy you have to start by loving and accepting yourself exactly as you are, warts and all as the saying goes. Once you do so then consistent nurturing is required. Most of us battle with being consistent. We want to party and abuse our bodies. It is possible to have fun and look after your body. It involves a new mindset. When you suddenly have to look after a child after having had only to look after yourself, it requires a new mindset. Here are some affirmations that you can use while doing EFT/Tapping while undertaking this journey.

Affirmations:

I love and approve of myself exactly as I am.                                                                                   I choose healing thoughts that create and maintain my healthy body and make me look and feel my best.                                                                                                                                     I love and accept my beautiful body.                                                                                                  I appreciate that my limitations are a blessing in disguise, chosen to teach me the lessons that I am here to learn.                                                                                                                          I can undo most of the damage done to my body by my ignorance. I can change. My body is endlessly forgiving. I am endlessly good to myself.                                                                     I have the perfect body for this point of my evolution.                                                                  My body teaches me new lessons as it ages. I accept the external changes. I am as young internally as I choose to be.                                                                                                                  I see myself in perfect health. I am filled with my love. I am filled with Gods love. I am surrounded by eternal love. Eternal love is my spiritual nature. My world is a world of love and gratitude.

COUGHS

A cough is the body’s reaction to irritation in the throat, bronchial tubes or lungs. Usually a cough signals a viral or bacterial infection such as a cold or bronchitis. Germs are being expelled via mucous in most coughs. They can also be caused by exposure to dust, allergens, smoke, polluted air, dry air or strong smells. Other causes include asthma, allergic rhinitis, sinus, gastric reflux, foreign objects in the lungs or lung infections. If you are coughing up green or yellow mucous, that indicates a bacterial infection. Attend to the cough and the infection. If you cough up blood or if a cough goes on and on for weeks, see a doctor. Coughing is a problem if it fails to expel the offending substance or if it interferes with eating, talking or sleeping. A chronic cough can be a symptom of a number of disorders. Here are some possibilities. Do not tackle most of them on your own.

Possible Causes of Cough in Children:                                                                                           Upper respiratory infection. Post nasal drip. Croup. Hay fever. Bronchitis. Pneumonia. Asthma. Pertussis. Inhaled foreign body. Cystic  fibrosis. Tapeworms. Chicken pox.             Diphtheria.   German Measles. Tonsillitis. Glandular fever.                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Possible Causes of Cough in Adults:                                                                                                Upper respiratory infection.  Sinusitis.   Laryngitis. Influenza.  Tracheitis. Acute or chronic bronchitis.      Pneumonia.   Tuberculosis.  Pulmonary embolus. Congestive heart failure. Cardiac asthma.  Lung cancer. Bronchiectasis. Sarcoidosis.   Angina pectoris     Aortic valve disease.  Asbestosis.       Cardiomyopathy. Emphysema.      Legionnaire’s disease.    Lung abscess.      Pleurisy. Pericarditis. Candidiasis.                                                                                                                                                                                                                       The Natural Approach:

The cure for a cough must treat the cause. Using medication to suppress a cough is not a good idea. Using natural cough remedies, treating the underlying infection, taking supportive supplements and eating only the right foods or fasting is in my opinion the best strategy to use.

Top foods to use:  Chicken broth made from whole chicken thins mucous and soothes coughs. If hungry, only eat  steamed vegetables, veg soup, veg stew and veg salads and chicken broth. Consume lots of garlic and onions raw or cooked. Eat raw ginger root- chew it or blend it and strain the juice out. Sauerkraut and or probiotics/ effective micro organisms all feed the friendly gut bacteria which improves your immunity. Keep hydrated. Drink lots of water or lemon water and or lemon and manuka honey (wild honey) in luke warm water. Apple cider vinegar can be used in luke warm water like lemon juice.

Avoid:  All grains, flour, legumes, dairy products, sugar of any kind or in any form, fruit and fruit juices, chocolate, all processed foods, preserved foods, all GMO foods or any source of Roundup (glyphosate). All man made chemicals. All drug medications which often cause coughing as a side effect. Stale or smoky air will make a cough worse. Smoking when you have a cough is not wise.

Underlying Infection:                                                                                                                             Echinacea Root, olive leaf extract, golden seal, garlic, colloidal silver, astragalus and grindelia individually or in combination will be effective in any infection.

COUGH:

These herbs may be used in tea, extract, tincture or capsule form. Your results will depend on the quality of the herbs and how they are prepared. The dosage would depend on the individual. This article is for health education purposes only. If you need further details please contact me.

Horehound, wild cherry bark, hyssop, elecampane root, comfrey root, coltsfoot, slippery elm bark, lobelia and ephedra ( use only if directed by a herbalist), mullein tea, irish moss, drosera (sundew), aniseed, chickweed tea, licorice root whole extract (not for those with high blood pressure), marshmallow root, boswellia, minor bluegreen dragon decoction (chinese formula), fritillaria (chinese herb), schizandra (dry coughs), elder flowers and berries, lungwort, thyme tea, wild indigo (baptisia), eyebright and golden rod.

These boost immunity and white blood cell activity.                              N-acetylcysteine  500mg 1-3 times daily helps break down chronic mucous.

Bach Flower Remedy: Rescue Remedy.

Aromatherapy Oils: lavender, chamomile, peppermint, thyme, eucalyptus, myrrh and frankinsense.

Tissue Salts: Ferrum Phos, Kali Mur, Mag Phos, Nat Mur, Calc Phos, Kali Sulph, Calc Sulph, Calc Flour, Nat Sulph, Kali Phos, Silicea.

Homeopathy:   Use according to the symptoms and the constitution of the individual- aconite, antimony tart, bryonia, carbo veg, causticum, cina, cuprum, drosera, hepa sulph, ipecac, phosphorus, pulsatilla, sulphur.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               If possible rest for a few days. Unwind and relax. Get out into Nature and breathe forest or sea air. Take the time to pray, meditate, practice yoga, tai chi and qi gong. If you like to read, draw or day dream, do so. Use EFT/Tapping several times a day. If you do not have any herbs or remedies available the advise in this paragraph costs you nothing and requires nothing except your time. Spend time with friends, pets and family if that is calming and nurturing for you. May you recover in the fullness of time. You can heal. Fast if necessary. Allow yourself the space to regain balance. Get in touch with your soul. Blessings.

Fire Up Your Brain, Your Thinking and Your Memory.

Do You Want Peak Brain Power?

Most of us want emotional resilience, improved mood, mental clarity, better memories and thinking speed. Our world is experiencing an epidemic of “Broken Brains”. Whatever our age, we are suffering from some kind of brain damage. Modern psychiatry is based on adding chemicals to bodies that are already chemically overburdened. Their logic that says “you are suffering from a chemical imbalance” is largely a myth. Our systems which suffer from brain problems are giving evidence of imbalance. Let’s look at this a little more closely. Is the human system designed so that we cannot be happy or concentrate or remember stuff without pills? How did humans get by before we had drug intervention? Is depression a Prozac deficiency? Is ADHD/ADD a Ritalin deficiency? Why are these new mental problems happening on an ever increasing scale?

Psychiatric drugs are the second best selling prescription drugs after cholesterol medication. The rising rate of the use of these medications is meteoric eg over a 1000% increase in the use of stimulant medication in children. Added to that there is only a 50% improvement in half the symptoms among the half of those who respond to antidepressants in the first place. That is a very poor record. 86% of the 50% who do find some relief from their symptoms have one or more side effects including sexual dysfunction, fatigue, insomnia, loss of mental abilities, nausea and weight gain. That is why half the people who try antidepressants give up after 4 months. No wonder they give up.  This sort of information is hardly ever revealed or reported This leads us to think that antidepressants and other psychiatric medications do work when they don’t work very well at all. In double blind studies of antidepressants ( where people are given either the medication or a sugar pill) 40% of people taking a sugar pill got better, while only 60% taking the actual drug had any improvement in their symptoms. Looking at it in another way, 80% of people got better with just a sugar pill. This means that our brains know how to sort out a chemical imbalance on their own. First of all we have to believe that our brains heal themselves. Then we have to take action.

When the brain is suffering, does drug therapy cure the problem? At best drugs cover over symptoms in exchange for other new symptoms. That leaves us asking how do we find the cause of broken brains? Are more drugs really the answer? Is there another way of addressing our mental/emotional epidemic? Obviously with their toxic side effects, they won’t provide a long term solution. The secret that promises to help fix our broken brains lies in our bodies and our lifestyles, places mostly ignored by the medical field.

Our broken brains cause many problems eg: bipolar disease, autism, asperger’s, attention deficit disorder, addictions, dyslexia, learning difficulties, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, personality disorders and neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s, dementia, MS, schizophrenia, mania and Parkinson’s. Of a less serious nature people suffer from lack of focus, poor concentration, brain fog, anger, mood swings, sleeping problems or degrees of anxiety and depression. Your brain condition does largely affect your quality of life. Most doctors do not consider the possibility that mental disorders may be related to imbalances in gut function or flora, the immune system, problems with detoxification or an imbalance in any of the body’s other key operating systems. The body influences the brain more than any of us ever imagined. When treating mental/brain disorders, a whole new array of possible causes and treatments are open to us.

Changing diet, nutrient levels, circadian rhythms or sleep patterns, the substances you use, the amount of exercise or playtime you have, getting rid of toxins in your system, balancing your hormones, correcting imbalances in your digestive tract, boosting your cells’ ability to produce energy and fixing food intolerances or allergies, can all radically transform your mood and brain function. Curing neurological diseases by altering diet and lifestyle and repairing the body’s systems which affect the body/mind system in which the brain functions is resisted by conventional psychiatry and neurology. Doctors are locked into their way of seeing and thinking. Drug companies control modern medicine via:

  • The allocation of funds for research limited to their own profitable agenda
  • Developing patented treatments
  • Withholding any important information that contradicts their profit driven worldview
  • Controlling medical education
  • “Educating” doctors in practice via seminars and their sales representatives
  • Marketing to consumers—brainwashing the public.

Medical aids and hospitals are completely controlled by drug companies. Medical training reinforces the illusion of separate body systems by training doctors in specialties has led to few understanding how the whole body works as one complex complete system. Even when someone like myself sees miracles happen in everyday practice, they are dismissed as spontaneous remissions because they contradict the MDs worldview. Most of the research that I find very valid and useful comes from medical researchers and is published on PubMed, yet the GPs and specialists of the world deny that it exists. I call this the flat earth syndrome. In the past if you did not believe that the earth is flat you were branded as being mad.

Nevertheless the recent discovery of how behaviour, mood and mental functioning are linked to our biology is one of the greatest advances in twenty first century medicine. Other advances spearheaded by men like Bruce Lipton show how our thoughts, feelings and life experiences literally shape our brains and influence our biology. Such research holds the key to the epidemic of mood, behaviour, attention and memory problems that are rampant in todays’ society. Even if you don’t have one of these diseases and feel fine, feeling fine is less than you could be feeling. You should  and can feel alert, focused, happy, energetic, unstressed and mentally sharp.

Years of investigation have revealed that our troubles with mood, behaviour, attention and memory don’t come from bad parenting or bad genes, but from imbalances in the underlying systems in the body. In fact they do not exist as diseases. Mental disorders and brain disorders are simply the names of common responses our bodies have to a variety of toxic chemical insults and deficiencies of resources to deal with them. Fix the underlying problems, rebalance the various systems and the body and mind will come back into balance. Fixing the imbalances in the dozen key systems of your body will allow for a miraculous recovery of your brain.

As we age we begin to notice lapses in memory. It is common to lose our car keys or cell phones and forget words or names. Memory loss does not have to be a part of aging. Our brains can be fixed fuelled and maintained. Your brain is capable of making new brain cells at any age. If you find yourself repeating the same things in one conversation or being unable to recall recent events or battling to remember everyday words, then it might be time to do something about it while you still can remember that you are becoming forgetful. If the memory problems relate to stress ie high levels of cortisol then that also needs to be addressed.

Getting Under the Hood.

These are introductions to the subjects listed here. See my other blogs, articles, workshops and training on these subjects for further in depth information.

1Nutrition:

Eating correctly is vital to your brain and memory. We are made of the stuff that we eat. We need the right balance of protein, fats and carbohydrates plus the right vitamins and minerals tailored for each of us as individuals and all the colourful pigments found in plants and herbs called phytonutrients that support our well being and function. Nearly everyone is nutritionally imbalanced in several ways. This means that we have very physical reasons for memory lapses. In older adults dehydration can cause memory and brain malfunction. As we age we do not extract all the nutrients from the already nutrient deficient food that we eat. Also the production of many chemicals and hormones declines as we age. The most powerful tool you have to change your brain is your knife and fork. Food is the most powerful medicine for all of us. As people age they fail to eat as well as they did when they were younger. They go for quick fix instant food. This makes matters worse. In fact they should be eating way more healthy food than when they were younger for several reasons. Supplements are essential in todays world as well.

2Balance your Hormones:

A faulty thyroid could cause mental blanks. Too much or too little insulin, sex hormones and stress hormones like cortisol all influence mental functioning. They all have to work in harmony for you to be healthy. The pineal, pituitary and the hypothalamus are also vital to clear headedness.

3Avoid Chemicals and Increase Detoxification:

Most people know that excess alcohol consumption creates brain toxicity and increases the risk of conditions such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. Smoking can cause vascular disorders that can limit oxygen to the brain. Our bodies must eliminate all of our metabolic wastes and toxins created by everyday breathing and living. On top of that comes all the environmental toxins via our food, air, water and medications. The toxic burden in this day and age is overwhelming and often, when  our bodies can’t keep up, we end up with malfunction or illness. There are certain detox trains as it were, that have to keep running. These are called methylation, sulphation, glutathione pathways and the heavy metal detox pathways. They have to take care of chemicals from our workplace, chemicals we release/use in our homes, personal care chemicals, airborne chemicals from all kinds of pollution as well as chemicals caused by living in a world that is very stressed. Do you think that you and I can escape the stress of humans doing horrible things to each other, to animals and to mother nature? I think not. Vibrations affect us. The sun, moon and planets affect us. We have to literally detox lots of vibrational, electrical and energetic toxins that we have created and subjected each other to. Fortunately we can now use hi tech detox methods to get rid of the internal and external toxins. These are best used before you attempt to detox the liver, kidneys, lymph system and the remaining detox pathways in the body. One source of horrible toxins are vaccinations. In fact they are a genocide or population control tool. There are new vaccines coming out monthly aimed at young and old alike. All of them contain heavy metals and other extremely toxic man made chemicals. Our body toxic burden is vastly increased and often reaches tipping point from vaccines as is seen in autistic children (watch the movie Vaxxed). This can damage and overwhelm our detox capabilities. Remember this: toxins give rise to all manner of diseases and malfunctions in the body. They will not go away if you ignore them. They have to be pushed out of the body. All your body needs is a little help.

4Cool Inflammation Down:

When there is heat generated in the body in excess of what is normal, we are on the slippery slope to acute or chronic disease. Inflammation accompanies disease, pain, and discomfort. We must protect and defend ourselves from foreign invaders or abnormal cells inside our bodies. Too much inflammation at the cellular level leads to disease. Chronic bodily inflammation is normal in our modern world. We are assalted by huge numbers of viral and bacterial invaders as well as toxic mold daily. Many of them have taken a hold on our bodies and cause low grade infection and inflammation. We are bombarded with 1,000s of man made toxic chemicals each day. They are present in air pollution and raining down on us from chem trails. Our drinking water is polluted by intentional chemicals. Our food is full of pesticides, Roundup and other man made poisons. Cell phones and cell phone towers are a huge source of bodily intoxification caused by free radicals generated by the toxic electro-magnetic fields they create. Our homes and workplaces are often a source of mold spores from hidden mold in corners or air conditioners that are circulating unclean air. Most city dwellers and farmers have low or high grade inflammation in their bodies and brains. This inflammation of the brain is present in almost all psychiatric and nerve conditions as well as all chronic disease. If your brain is not working properly, it is almost certainly inflamed. Fortunately there are many methods of using foods, superfoods, supplements, herbs and types of fasting that can bring inflammation under control. Getting body cells (both internally and externally) more alkaline also helps control inflammation.

5Heal the Gut and Fix Digestion:

Breaking down and absorbing all food we eat is critical for health. The digestive system has to protect us from internal toxins, bugs of all kinds, moulds, allergens as well as eliminate wastes. If there is a breakdown in digestion, assimilation, or elimination we start with inflammation and illness and mental problems start. In has been recently found out that an inflamed leaky gut causes a leaky blood brain barrier. Read the books ‘Grain Brain’ and ‘Brain Maker’ by Dr David Perlmutter to come to a better understanding of this subject. So many people are infested with candida, parasites, worms and unfriendly bacteria today for a variety of reasons. We have lots of great products to repair all these problems. This is one of the places to start healing your brain.

6Increase your Chi, Energy or Vitality Levels:

The above names have been used to describe the energy levels in a persons body. Low levels of energy are associated with disease ranging all the way to cancer. So many people are vertically ill running around trying to live their lives while chronically fatigued. Life is energy. Once no more energy is produced in your cells, you die. The process of extracting energy from the food you eat and the oxygen you breathe is the most essential process of life. Keeping that metabolic engine running smoothly and protecting it from harm are essential for health. Loss of energy is found in almost all brain disorders. Your brain uses the amount of power that a 14 Watt light bulb does. That is more than the rest of your body. The brain has the most mitochondria in it. They are the little factories inside your cells that produce energy. Energy is necessary for memory, learning and the flow of information that keeps everything in the brain healthy. Broken brain? If you want more energy then heal and feed your mitochondria. Energy is something we lose with age,but the good news is that you can turn it around. Energy can also be lost because of anything that triggers more free radicals and oxidative stress damage to the mitochondria. Injured mitochondria lead to many neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders. Ensuring that you are well fed, hydrated, powered by healthy thyroid and adrenals and powered by optimum  functioning mitochondria leads to a healthy body and mind. See my other articles, workshops and training on the subject of brain and mitochondrial health.

7 Supplements:

There are many smart nutrients, smart herbs, smart drugs and other foods that can supercharge the mind without causing damage.

8 Beat Stress:

A life of meaning and purpose, a life in balance with connection, community, love, support and a sense of empowerment are essential for health. The overwhelming stresses of the twenty first centuary, including social isolation, overwork and disempowerment create enormous strain on our nervous systems, leading to burnout and breakdown. Most people are carrying the burden of past hurts and toxic belief systems that are sabotaging their every attempt at gaining excellent health. These can all be detoxified and replaced with healthy beliefs and a happy outlook. Emotional care comes into the picture as much as caring for the body. Attaining a good attitude to life is essential to health and well being.

10 Avoid Chemical Drugs.

11 Exercise.

12 Get Enough Sleep.

13 Master the Edge Effect:

Simply put, it’s all about the brain and proper balancing of the brain’s four primary chemical messengers, or neurotransmitters – dopamine, acetylcholine, GABA, and serotonin. This balance can restore or create whole brain and body well-being.

Don’t wait for this revolution in health to eventually trickle into your doctor’s office. It usually takes 20 years for knowledge to move from research lab to the patient. The answers are here in this article. Time to get cracking. It’s your Health!

Rotavirus. Enteritis.

Gastroenteritis, Rotavirus or Tummy Bug.

No matter which name we use, a tummy bug drains your energy and leaves you feeling exhausted. It is caused by a bacteria or virus as the above names indicate. The bugs cause inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Parasitical organisms and bad food also cause inflammation. Too much of anything your body does not like can also cause inflammation eg fiber, sugar, foreign foods, food intolerance, irritable bowel syndrome, candida and overeating. Many people live with bowel inflammation, so add a bacteria or virus and they get hit hard by the condition.

Symptoms: Vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, weakness and tiredness are the main ones.

Cramping, thirst, abdominal pain and fever can also be a part of the infection.

Currently I am seeing a lot of people suffering from a current rotavirus. Firstly remember that your body is wise. The symptoms tell you that it is trying to get rid of something nasty that has invaded your digestive system. It is a bad idea to try and stop the diarrhoea using over the counter medication. It is more intelligent to work with your body, not against it. While you let nature take its course, help your body with the healing process. Secondly you have to stem the loss of liquids due to diarrhoea and vomiting, as well as replace the electrolytes (minerals) lost during the excretion of fluids.

Rife Machine:

If you have a Rife machine available, then do Rotavirus treatments  2- 4 times a day. Just do not exhaust the patient. Also you can alternate it with immune system treatments. It is not the only tool, yet for me it is a tried and tested tool.

Natural Treatment:

Step 1:

Rehydrate:

The first step is to rehydrate, especially if there has been diarrhoea and vomiting. I normally go for a 24 hour liquid fast to do so. Water is the first prize, followed by clear vegetable broth. Warm water always has a better effect than cold water. Herb teas that I will mention in later steps can be drank as often as possible. Green drinks made from barley, wheat or oat grass are helpful. Spirulena is also good. Green tea and black Ceylon tea have been proven to kill rotavirus, so drink up. Tea made from carob powder also helps detoxify when there is an upset tummy. Rooibos and honeybush are good for upset tummies. Raspberry leaf tea, fenugreek tea and meadowsweet tea are all palatable. If abdominal cramps are an issue, ginger root tea or chopped up and chewed  is very helpful. The following herbs are good for cramps and flatulence: peppermint, cinnamon, cardamom, fennel, catnip and chamomile. Most of the soothing/healing herbs can be taken as tinctures or boiled up and concentrated as teas as well. Brown rice is cooked up to make a soup like gruel in the macrobiotic tradition, but I prefer it after the 24 tea and broth fast.

Step2:

Bowel Detoxification:

Psyllium seed husks and flaxseed powder both provide bulk that help stools form and detoxify the bowels. Carob, charcoal powder and Bentonite clay all absorb virus toxins. If you have all the above on hand mix a tablespoon of each or whichever you can lay your hands on together. Every hour or two take 2 teaspoons of the powder mixed in a cup of water. Drink right away otherwise they will form a jelly in the cup. You want that jelly to form in the gut and cleanse/heal as it travels along. Couple this with drinking herb tea every half an hour. This will prevent dehydration and help the body clean the offending bugs out.

Step 3:

Kill off the bad guys:

There are a number of herbs and foods that kill bacteria and viruses. Here is a list

  • Garlic fresh or fermented (in capsules).
  • Colloidal Silver. Take several doses during the day.
  • Zinc Picolinate. 60 mg per day. Works well with Vitamin C 5000mg-20000mg per day to fight bacteria and virus.
  • Stabilized liquid oxygen, or magnesium powder or hydrogen peroxide (called Rain Drops in health shops) kill bugs and re alkalise the gut.
  • Bee Propolis is an infection killer.
  • Full strength grapefruit seed extract kills most micro organisms.
  • Origanum oil capsules can kill most bugs.
  • The following herbs come in capsules or tinctures—olive leaf extract, golden seal, milk thistle, Echinacea root, cats claw, African potato (hypoxis rooperi), astragalus extract, berberis root/bark extract, elder berry/flower extract, pau d arco and ginseng (inhibits rotavirus). Most of these herbs also help with fever and should be taken with peppermint tea to help avoid nausea.
  • For bacterial gut infection mega doses of niacinamide 500—5000mg destroy bugs. This is not ideal for a

Step  4:

Soothe and heal the gut:

  • L-Glutamine powder in water. If the fevers and violent cramping have eased, it is time to heal the gut. One teaspoon in a cup of  water a few times a day breaks down the biofilm that germs hide in and heals the gut walls.
  • Aloe Vera gel. Do not use aloe drinks because they are mostly fruit juice, sugar and other things that are useless. (Alcare makes an effective product)
  • The following herbs are soothing and astringent and also help with recovery: wild yam root, licorice root, bayberry bark, mullein flower or leaf (often used in tea form), slippery elm bark, marshmallow root bark, oak bark, tormentil root, comfrey root and American cranesbill.. These are able to soothe and heal the damage caused by the germ attack.

You may need to dose yourself with the herbs and above remedies a few times a day for a few days to provide relief. You can seek further relief from homeopathic remedies if you so desire. Their one advantage is that the pillules are tasteless or the liquids are made with water and alcohol.

Homeopathy:

Most of these can be used in 6x or 30x strength. Take as needed up to several times daily.

Ars Alb—violent vomiting, diarrhoea, chilliness, fearful, restless.

Belladonna –violent pains and fever.

Bryonia—nausea and vomiting.

Colocynth—severe pains, vomiting and diarrhoea.

Ipecac –persistent nausea and vomiting.

Mag Phos—cramp, abdominal pains.

Nux Vom—vomiting, retching, back ache, chilly, irritable.

Argentum Nit—diarrhoea and bloatedness

Cuprum—violent cramps

Eupatorium—gastic flu

Podophyllum—profuse spraying diarrhoea.

Chamomilla—diarrhoea in children

Merc Sol—smelly mucousy stools, diarrhoea worse at night.

Nat Phos—acidic diarrhoea

Aromatherapy:

  • Chamomile, geranium, sandalwood, thyme, rosemary, clary sage and lavender. These oils may be applied to the abdomen mixed with a carrier oil,

Step 5:

Repopulate the Bowels:

Once the extreme runny tummy and vomiting have been helped by steps 1 to 4, it is time to start repopulating the gut. There are many pre and pro biotic agents available. They come in powders or capsules. The most popular are lactobacillus acidophilus, bifidus and rhamnosis. There are many more. For example I like kefir, both the fruit kefir and and milk kefir (preferably made from goat milk, sheep or buffalo milk). I grow them at home and feed them to myself, my family and pets daily. Take generous doses because the future health of your body and your mind depend on a wide range of healthy bowel bacteria. The presence of glyphosate, pesticides and antibiotics in our food chain tend to kill off our friendly flora as well as the use of many chemical medications and food additives. Bowel repopulation should be done by everyone on a daily basis even when you are well.

Step 6:

Reintroduce foods and your usual supplements. First fast and rehydrate, kill the bad guys and soothe/heal the gut and repopulate it. When the extreme nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting are over, the best foods to start with are green bananas (because of their resistant starch), pureed apples (which are high in pectin) and paw paw and pineapple which are high in digestive enzymes. If the sugar in the paw paw and pineapple cause tummy cramps, then discontinue. The next gentle food is soaked, cooked brown or basmati rice with some steamed vegetables. No nuts, seeds, proteins, sugars or grains when you still have any symptoms. Rushing into heavy foods will exhaust you, prolong inflammation and delay recovery. Bear in mind that the rotavirus may have layer after layer of the bug that can be released. If this happens, you are not being reinfected, it is the nature of the original virus. With the current outbreak, people seem to recover, only to be hit by another layer and have to go through the whole healing process a few times. If you get hit by several layers, that is just the design of the particular virus. Do not panic. You will get better.

I cannot give specific time and dosage information here because that varies from person to person. Work that out by talking to me, your health practicioner or doctor. Remember that if this condition is not well managed at home and dehydration and infection get the upper hand, someone may end up in hospital or at least needing an electrolyte drip.

In Closing

Allow healing to prevail. Rest. Pray. Meditate or just lie there and visualize yourself healthy and well again. Let Nature do its job. We are programmed to heal. Never forget that no matter how ill you feel. Trust is vital. Help nature as much as possible. Do not over ride it. With each breath healing is happening.

Blessings !

Bruising:

A bruise occurs when the tissues underlying the skin become injured. The skin is not broken, but the delicate capillaries below the skin surface rupture and blood drains out into the surrounding area. This seeping blood results in pain, swelling and black and blue marks. People who do not eat enough fresh, uncooked fruit and vegetables are prone to easy bruising. Eat lots of dark leafy vegetables like broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, kale, spinach and buckwheat are amongst good. People who sail  a lot on yachts are candidates for a lot of bruising because they get banged about at times.
